Either you’re excited about Disney rescuing the franchise from George Lucas, or you are skeptical of how the they’ll adapt this new movie. Decide for yourself as you watch this new trailer out, and for those true fan’s there is a few things we now know about the movie (or at least think we know).
1. Han and Chewbacca are back (and Wookies don’t age?).
We get our first look at Han Solo, and his best friend and loyal sidekick Chewbacca. I think any fan can be happy about that. While Harrison Ford has obviously gotten older, it seems his friend has fared better – maybe it’s just a wookie suit, or maybe they just age slower. I doubt this will be addressed in the movie but we’ll have to wait and see.
2. The Empire might be divided in a civil war.
We can see that different members of the empire which was supposedly defeated at the end of Return of the Jedi, might be on different sides. This is because of two things: 1) There seems to be different storm trooper uniforms fighting, and 2) John Boyega an actor plays a storm trooper that we saw in the earlier trailer is now being chased by the empire. These two assumptions could be totally wrong, or maybe spot on. We’ll see in December.
3. They’re back on Tatooine.
There are a lot of sand scenes in this trailer. It looks like we’ll be going back to the desert planet with two suns (and I thought it was hot here in the summer). From what we have seen, though, things might be different – perhaps there was a big battle there. That would explain the giant ship that is abandoned and crashed. Also, there is the line by Harrison Ford “Chewy, were home.” Like others things, this is just a theory at this point.
4. Either Leia or her daughter will be playing a bigger role.
Someone is narrating in the trailer, which I suspect could either be Luke or his nephew. He mentions his father, and it shows a destroyed Darth Vader mask, so Luke is a reasonable guess. He then mentions, “My sister has it (i.e. the force).” It shows a female being passed a light saber. Either way it looks like we’ll have an awesome butt-kicking female jedi, and i think that’s something we can all get behind.
What do you think? Are we wrong? We would like to hear what you think and what you’re most excited about for this new movie!
