With much hype surrounding the construction of the coveted Aggie Factory, many students were disappointed when they were informed that it would not be completed in time for the school year. Given this situation, some students have had to find different places to live. Putting boring old dorms and frat houses aside, we’ve gone ahead and compiled a list of some interesting, although more suitable alternative housing options than the Aggie Factory in its current incomplete state.
THE TAGGART STUDENT CENTER
Utah State’s student center is the heart of campus, and since home is where the heart is, it would only make sense to live in the TSC while you wait for the construction of Aggie Factory to be complete. The Taggart Student Center is complete with most of the essential living amenities. If you get hungry, stop by The Hub or The Marketplace for some great food. Need something fun to do? There’s pool and ping pong tables located on the third floor. As for sleeping arrangements, the TSC is home to a variety of comfortable chairs and couches, great for a good night’s sleep.
A NICE TENT IN THE WOODS
Utah State’s campus is often boasted about for being close to the great outdoors. If you enjoy camping and the feeling of “roughin’ it,” you may look at this as a viable housing alternative to the Aggie Factory. Although there is a slight lack of facilities, a good, sturdy tent can be all the home you need. The woods can be a perfect place to connect with the serenity of nature. Away from the burdens of civilization and societal expectations such as “brushing your teeth twice a day,” and “showering with soap,” you are free to discover your true self.
YOUR GRANDMOTHER’S GUEST BEDROOM
If you prefer to stay indoors where it’s clean and luxurious, look no further. Your grandmother is always happy to have you stay over. Crashing with Grandma is a great way to live rent-free, and the only noisy roommate you’ll have to deal with is Mr. Buttons with his constant meows. Grandma is happy to have you stay until the Aggie Factory is done, and if you’re lucky, she’ll tell you the story of how she herself worked in a factory during the War. Grandma’s house even comes with the “Are you eating enough? You look a little thin,” meal plan. Your grandmother’s guest bedroom is a wonderful living arrangement for anyone who likes feeling comfortable and doesn’t mind weird smells.
THIS SWEET, SWEET VAN
What if you’re the type that prefers to be mobile, yet totally and inexplicably awesome? You are in need of this babe-magnetic van. As an economically thrifty option, the van offers a balance of fun and practicality. The van not only has the most righteous paint job, it also offers the space to keep your personal items with room to spare for sleeping. Sure, the van sometimes breaks down or needs repairs, but living here guarantees daily adventures, which is more than can be said for Aggie Factory right now.
