I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect when I had won Katy Perry tickets from my job. Don’t get me wrong, I’m in love with Katy. She’s wonderful. But I usually go to the general admission rock concerts. I had never been to a big stadium concert before, unless you count Tim McGraw & Faith Hill when I was 10 (which I don’t). Needless to say, this was the most extravagant, exciting, weirdest concert I’ve ever been to. You could say it changed my life.

Katy had many different themes for her concert. She opened with “Roar,” which had the stage ultraviolet, tribal themed. The themes of the stage changed about ever 3-4 songs that were played. In between these songs, she would have a video play on the prism shaped background of the stage. This usually involved a small clip of animated cats acting like humans, or a dub-step video of Katy performing one of her songs. These kept the crowd entertained during her costume changes.

My favorite song of the entire show had to be when she brought out the people dressed as cats. They began tap-dancing to a jazz piece, which went into a super jazzed up version of “I Kissed A Girl.” Her performance was unbelievable throughout the entire show. Her dancing and voice just seemed beyond perfect and in sync with everything happening around her.

Katy interacted with the crowd a lot more than I thought she would. She took on-stage selfies with people in the pit, and even gave an 11 year old boy a pizza. Yes. She was talking about how she has a garden at home in Cali, when all of the sudden a garden appeared on stage. After she watered the garden, a pizza rose from the ground. Apparently, she’s allergic to gluten now and couldn’t eat it, so she brought a little boy on stage and gave it to him. Afterward, she dedicated the next song to, “all of the pizzas she could no longer consume.” She is just the sweetest person. You could tell how passionate she was about her fans throughout the entire show.

Most of the songs that were played were from her new album, Prism, which was released about a year ago. She played many of her big hits from her older albums, but I was disappointed that she didn’t play some more of the older songs.

Her encore was “Firework.” This was super cool, because before the show 3D glasses were handed out to the crowd. During this song there were lasers and fireworks and the 3D glasses made it a million times cooler.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to take very many pictures because the effects on the stage couldn’t be seen very well from where I was sitting. I was in the front of the upper bowl at EnergySolutions. Even if I was able to take some decent pictures, it wouldn’t have done the concert any justice.

Whenever people ask me about this concert, I start fangirling all over again. It was unreal. People usually don’t believe me after I give them details, because Katy made her performance so unique, and out of this world. If you EVER have the chance to see Katy live, don’t even think about it. Buy a ticket.
