Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Ariel, the list goes on and on.

Everybody knows the Disney heroes, but their villainous counterparts are just as important. Every story needs a villain. So who is the Ultimate Disney Villain?

After taking a survey, here are the top five and the reasoning for why they deserve the title.

5) Judge Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame:

After letting his lustful ambitions get in the way, Judge Frollo gets what he deserves when he falls to his death off of the Cathedral. Passions and desires unchecked are proven to be the untimely demise of this classic villain.

4) Hades from Hercules:

Literally meaning “hell,” this villain is the god in charge of the spirits sent down to the Underworld. Wanting to take over Mount Olympus, Hades will do anything he can (including using Meg and turning Hercules mortal), to overthrow Zeus and obtain his desires.

3) Ursula from The Little Mermaid:

Jealousy plays a huge role in the motivation for Ursula. She’s determined to not allow Ariel and the other mermaids to have their happiness, happiness she was never allowed to have. With the help of her eel sidekicks, Ursula aims for world domination on both the land and the sea.

2) Cruella Deville from 101 Dalmatians:

Anyone whose name is “Cruel Devil” has to be an evil character. All for the sake of a fur coat, Cruella Deville kidnaps 101 dalmatian puppies. Not only that, she just doesn’t have a happy personality, as seen by all the yelling and fighting with her henchman.

And finally, in our number ONE spot…

1) Scar from The Lion King:

Drawing allusions to Hitler, Stalin and Claudius (from Shakespeare), Scar very well could be Disney’s most evil villain ever created. He kills his brother (the king), overthrows Pride Rock, tortures the other lions, and blames all of it on Simba. His death could not have come at a better time… nor at better means.
