Utah State University has just announced that the new head coach of the Aggie Basketball team will be Tim Duryea, who served as assistant coach to Stew Morrill during his tenure and has been a member of the USU Basketball coaching staff since 2001.
Immediately following the announcement, Google searches for “Tim Duryea” increased drastically, and some were confused by the results. Before the announcement, the second most popular link for “Tim Duryea” on google.com led to a fan Wiki page for Miami Vice.
Internet users were perplexed, and some even began to question the USU Athletic Department’s choice to hire a minor character from Miami Vice as the head Coach of the Basketball team. Aggie Radio has confirmed that the future basketball coach of the Aggies is, in fact, the former assistant coach and not the fictional character from Miami Vice.
No statement has been made about the coincidence from USU Staff or Duryea himself, nor from the production staff of Miami Vice.
