“I believe that we will win!”
That is the phrase shouted by every USU student that goes to a basketball or football game.
The USU student section, or the HURD, has been recognized as one of the best student sections in the country. What characteristics does the HURD have that make it so special?
1. Smart.
They study their opponents out and use that information against them. Every game a new catch phrase is being created either for the opposing coach or players.
2. Passionate.
They arrive early to games and will strive to bring spirit to the game even if we are way down. At Stew’s last game they camped out for 18 hours to get tickets.
3. Supportive.

They are always wearing blue, even if this means buying a gameday shirt at concession stands at the last minute. Aggie fans shout cheers at every interval, either when our team is going for a basket or defending the other side.
4. Belligerent.

Along with being passionate, they will always find some rambunctious way to insult the opposing team. This includes players being fouled out and the crowd shouting in sync to the player’s steps, “left, right, left right, SIT DOWN!!!”
5. Intimidating.

Maybe it is just our overwhelming belief we are going to win, or just the fact we really get involved, but when we open all clad in blue and white, we stand united on every turn. We do whatever it takes to capture the attention of the opposing team. At times it’s so loud even the crowd couldn’t possibly think beyond their sheer intent to push the team along. No matter how it’s said, it is inspiring.
Regardless of what team we play our games are always something to talk about. We bring our “A” game every time we walk into the Spectrum or the turf. The embodiment of these characteristics spread fear into opposing teams because every time they enter an arena, the USU students really do believe that we will win.
