Radioactive,” “It’s Time,” “Warriors” and “Bleeding Out” are just a few of the songs that the band Imagine Dragons is known for.

The band hit the music scene just a couple of years ago, and since then the popularity and success of this group has skyrocketed, making it one of the most popular bands in the music industry.

So where did this band come from and what caused its sudden shot to stardom?

Imagine Dragons was formed in Provo, Utah in 2009 by Dan Reynolds (lead singer), and included Wayne Sermon (guitar), Ben McKee (bass), and Daniel Platzman (drummer). They were called in to open for Train, which started their climb to popularity. They released two EPs (“Continued Silence” and “Hear Me”), and a single (“It’s Time”), before their first studio debut album was released in 2012.

Their first album, “Night Visions,” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative and Rock Album chart and was within the top 10 of many other charts around the world. Other popular songs, “Radioactive” and “Demons” have also received awards and have each reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts for Rock and Pop. The band released their second album, “Smoke + Mirrors,” in February of 2015.

Their style of music puts them in the Alternative genre, with hints of Rock and Indie. They have been compared to such bands as Fun., OneRepublic, The Script, Coldplay and American Authors. Imagine Dragons has stayed true to their Alternative genre which has added to their popularity.

If you haven’t listened to them before, give them a try. You will be pleasantly surprised and quickly addicted to their songs.
