This is the first edition of what will become a weekly fixture on the Aggie Radio website. We’ll be tracking down all kinds of interesting sounds across Soundcloud, Spotify, YouTube, and Bandcamp. They’ll be themed, and will be best enjoyed in the order I present them. Each will have a link to support the creator of the track, as well as an embedded YouTube video for you to listen right here on our site. I’ll also do my best to capture the unique bits that really make each song worth featuring.

This week we’re trying to get the beats to echo off of an empty sky. This is music that can transform empty spaces into something familiar and comforting. This is atmospheric overlap. This is the Cloud Orchestra.

This is the Blisswave.

1. Giraffage – Slo

Light, airy, and airbrushed with quality samples, this track pulses with positive vibes. It’s one of those songs that gets you through anything, and is the perfect accent piece to the kind of beautiful sunny day this playlist is meant to accentuate. Slo and easy, nice and breezy.

Tycho – Elegy

Tycho is well known for his soothing, dream-like electronic soundtracks. Elegy begins with a pulsing echo and moves into a pleasant and surreal guitar. There is nothing harsh about the sound, only the long soothing strum of a warm, peaceful afternoon.

ODESZA – Kusanagi

Odesza is known for the combination its unique combination of styles. Dark gritty EDM combined with light, breezy chill. Kusanagi is in a class of its own. A dark downbeat combines with the airy sound of a children’s choir. All of it comes off of a steady buildup of wind chimes– culminating in a happy amalgamation of cheerful, dreamy ecstasy.

Nosaj Thing – Aquarium

Nosaj Thing takes eccentric vocal chopping/sampling and unique beat structure to a whole new level. It’s a strange blend of obscurity and originality Some may have heard this song hidden under Kid Cudi’s track Man on the Moon. Here you have the original… It’ll make you giddy and maybe a little bit “Dizzy, dizzy, dizzy, dizzy….”

Rone – Parade

We conclude with a jubilant combination of soaring synths and massaging backgrounds. Rone lifts you off the ground, mood and all, and flies you around for a while in a gentle escalation of pleasing and eclectic harmonies.
