Utah State has a plethora of interesting classes, but some are much more interesting than others. You may not be aware of these unlikely course listings, but as always, Aggie Radio’s got you covered.
Introduction to Unlawful Economics
We all know that one of the many purposes of a college education is to prepare individuals to become skilled, law-abiding citizens who will contribute to society and the economy. But what about those of us who would like a more interesting life? For those whose morals have advanced beyond the standards of conventional thinking and would like to somehow apply their knowledge, Utah State offers Introduction to Unlawful Economics. Taught by former Chemistry teacher Walter H. White, students learn the basic dynamics of money laundering, racketeering, embezzlement, and much more. Students will learn the skills to participate and compete in the black market.
Advanced Collegiate Culinary Arts
Students tend to enjoy Advanced Collegiate Culinary Arts because to them it has a very real-world application. In this class, students learn not only the basic skills of cooking ramen-noodles, but how to turn it into an art form. Using experimental techniques in creating food out of the cheapest and least-edible of materials, this class offers an in depth exploration of what exactly is “something I invented when I was hungry in college.”
Approximate Existential Philosophy

For students who relish in thinking outside the box, and furthermore enjoy asking questions like, “What even is a box – you know?” Approximate Existential Philosophy is for you. This class is notoriously deep and high-minded. This course explores the depths of reality. Students consider whether time is real, not real, or both real and not real at the same time. At the end of the semester, students are often quoted stating, “Things are like weird, but they’re like, also not really when you think about it, I guess…”
Experimental Slumber Techniques
There are students who are in need of a science credit, but are also extremely lazy. It is little known among these students that there is an option that will satisfy their needs. Experimental Slumber Techniques is dedicated to the discovery of where it is possible to sleep. Sleeping in class is encouraged, and most students enrolled in the class gain extra credit. Students gain not just an expanded knowledge of where they can sleep beyond just their bed, but how to accomplish this. This is one of few classes that is only offered at 7:30 in the morning.
Beginning Phatasmology
Utah State has one of the leading Supernatural Science departments in the nation, and Beginning Phatasmology is the biggest class in the department. Taught in the catacombs of the Logan Cemetery, the class researches tactics for communicating with, apprehending, and intervening with those who have passed to the other side. Instruction in this course includes describes different varieties of ghosts, apparitions, phantoms, and even specters. (Disclaimer: This class is NOT recommended for those students who have families with generational secrets, or attractive young women.)
