A small group of USU students and Logan natives have started meeting weekly in TSC 335 on Wednesdays from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in order to meditate together and share experiences with their fellow practitioners.
Led by Jake Grossman, a group of about seven people have come on a weekly basis to receive instruction from Grossman through 30 minutes of meditation. Kada Carlisle, a student at USU feels it’s really relaxing ” It helps me to refocus, kind of clears the baggage I have, and gives me a tingling feeling I feel when I’m relaxed” Carlisle added that she also practice yoga to feel the same calming feeling she has when meditating.
The club has no requirements or expectations and welcomes all practitioners beginning through advanced. The stresses of day to day life can be taxing leading to some needing a positive release and refocusing on personal goals.
The term “meditation” can refer to a broad variety of practices and techniques to promote relaxation, build internal energy, and develop compassion, patience, generosity, and forgiveness. The practice of meditation has been used for centuries in a myriad of religious and spiritual rituals.
