Shanghai, China- The name Yao Ming is well known in fan circles of the National Basketball Association. However, here in China, Yao Ming is known and beloved by all. As such, it comes as no surprise to the Chinese people that their hero is once again in the NBA All-Star Game.
“Yao Ming is still the best player in the NBA besides Kobe Bryant,” claimed Chung Lu, a Shanghai native. “He has never been more dominant!”
Yao received a record 942,983,475 votes from fans on a recent website poll for the annual All-Star Game. This comes despite the fact that Yao has spent the last 4 seasons retired from the sport. Said Yao, “I am completely baffled! I don’t know how I was chosen again. The system may be flawed after all.” Since his only NBA team was the Houston Rockets, Yao will represent the Western Conference in his 5th straight All-Star appearance and 13th in 14 years.
Yao will not be active for the game, but as required by the NBA, will make an appearance at the game with the other inactive members of the All-Star Teams. “It’s really inconvenient to have to fly to the US every year just for the All-Star game, but it should be cool to hang with Kobe again. I mean he’s almost in the same situation.”
The All-Star game will take place on Sunday the 15th of February at Madison Square Garden in New York City at 8 pm EST.
