The Utah State Volleyball team swept Nevada on Saturday. The win brought them to 8-8 on the season and 4-2 in conference play.

“I think we’re in a good spot defensively and offensively, which we haven’t always been all season long,” said USU’s head coach Garrison DuBose. “It’s kind of nice to have both of those things working together as opposed to one really good one night and not too good at the other. So it’s pretty nice.”

The win was the Aggies third straight.

“We came out super focused and strong. We were on a high from that win on Thursday, so I think we just carried over that momentum and that intensity and we just took advantage and played really well,” said Elle Brainard.

Brainard, who was playing in her first game after an ankle injury had a .538 attack percentage with eight kills.

“It feels a lot better, I’m just getting back in the swing of things but it feels a lot better to jump and everything,” Brainard said.

The Aggies as a team had season high attack percent of .340.

“We can score in a variety of ways, I think our serve is very good, so we can get those guys out of system and we’re holding those guys way under what they are hitting for the season. I think we can score in a variety of ways because of that,” DuBose said.

The high functioning offense was a luxury for setter Paige Neves.

“It’s easy for me and it’s nice when passing is good I can just set whoever I want and they just put it away,” Neves said. “So it’s an awesome team effort that we’ve been having in the last few games.”

The Aggies two conference losses came to Colorado State and New Mexico, the two teams who finished atop the conference last year.

“Every game we are focusing on getting better, working on the process of getting better so we can beat Colorado State and Beat New Mexico when we meet them again,” Neves said.

The Aggies go on the reaod to take on Boise State on Tuesday.
