Fall is that wonderful time of year that provides its own dating options. Many people love to go on these dates- and why shouldn’t they? It’s crunch time (leaf-pun unintended). It has been long said that Autumn is a time for break-ups, and for falling in love, naturally there are more dates to be had. This guide is here to help you navigate the pumpkin and leaf-laden path of Fall dating.

Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin carving is one of the most popular activities available to you. Everyone knows how to carve a pumpkin, what they don’t necessarily know is where they should get them from. Make sure you go to an actual pumpkin patch. All those genetically enhanced, artificial pumpkins you see next to the entrances of Wal-Mart are just shortcuts, and there can be no shortcuts if you want to have the perfect date. Go to a pumpkin patch and choose a real organic pumpkin from the earth. This going to add more time you spend with your date. It also forces you to make pumpkin-related decisions together, and may be the first step to many more decisions: rings, wedding invitation fonts, baby names, etc.

Corn Maze

What-to-know-about-Corn-Maze..jpg

For those wanting to have a little bit more adventure, the corn maze is the way to go. The best part about a corn maze is the wide range of options available to you. For couples who want to have excitement and fun, you can always run through the maze to complete it as fast as you can. If you’re quite fond of your date, the corn maze provides the perfect excuse to hold hands. Why? Because you don’t want to lose them in the maze, obviously. Who knows how easily you two can be separated if you’re not holding hands? Don’t take the risk. Mazes also provide the occasional seclusion and privacy to stare longingly into each other’s eyes, or whatever else you want to do privately under the pretense of “being lost.” In the unfortunate event that the date is not going well, or you highly dislike the person, the maze affords you the final option of ditching them by disappearing into the stalks of corn.

Haunted House

If you’re not one to scare easily, or even if you are and enjoy putting yourself through that kind of thing, going to a haunted house is always an interesting time. A haunted house brings immediate intensity to any date, and the hilarity that ensues from seeing someone out of their element. A haunted house is another hand-holder, although you will have to deal with sweaty palms and having you hand squeezed tightly out of fear. In spite of this, haunted houses are a great way to be intimate, as you can firmly grip your date every time you’re frightened. As an added bonus for the guys we get to brag about being “totally not even scared at all. Like, I jumped a few times but I totally wasn’t scared.”

Ghostbust

For those of you who are bored of all the standard Fall dates, and would like to get off the beaten path, the best date is clear for you: Ghost hunting. This may seem uncanny, but it can be the most fun date you can have. The best part about this date is you can go as far as you want with it. Do you want to put on matching jumpsuits with your date and carry a vacuum for sucking up ghosts? That’s great. Are you instead going to walk around with a recording device and say “I think I heard something!” every 30 seconds? That’s just as fun. Ghost hunting allows you and your date to be as creative and playful as possible.

Netflix Date

Going out on actual dates is fun, but if you’re like me you just need to relax under some blankets every once in a while and just watch some good ol’ fashioned Netflix. Netflix is appropriate for any season, and arguably the best “date” there is. In the fall and winter months staying home on a Netflix date is that much better, because it is so cold right now, which is why you have to cuddle together; and you only have one quilt, so I guess you can’t avoid it. Although your options are not completely gone. Once in close proximity, things may escalate from there if you both so wish. Listen you crazy kids, I know you want to make out, and a Netflix date has long been a facade for doing so. In the worst case scenario, maybe your Netflix partner doesn’t want to lock lips or even cuddle. In that case, you’re still watching Netflix. It’s a no loss situation.
